Doug Stern Studio: BFA School of the Art Institute of Chicago. In my landscapes, I take my time studying what's before me, then tend to paint it rapidly, trying to capture what attracted me to the scene. I find the impression of a setting, or the mood is more important to me than capturing a specific place, creating a scene that is ambiguous enough for the viewer to bring their own interpretation or story to it.
